| All-Porcelain crowns offer almost the same strength as metallic crowns, but also have the advantages of being tooth coloured and non-staining. With older porcelain-metal crowns, dark lines can form at the edges, making them look unsightly with time. New metal-free crowns don't form these dark lines, and so maintain their good looks much longer.
Typically porcelain crowns should last for 10-15 years. Some factors, such as tooth grinding, nail biting, eating extremely hard foods, and tooth decay impact the life span of crowns.
Porcelain crowns cost approximately $1000 per tooth depending on the type of porcelain system we decide to use.
A number of dental plans cover crowns anywhere from 50% to 100%, but some plans to do not cover them at all.
